Auto sector may get Rs 1-lakh crore jolt on 45-day shutdown

About two-thirds of the revenue foregone will be from GST on new vehicles, followed by registration tax and GST on insurance. Zero production also means the government’s goods and services tax collections will take a hit of more than ₹28,000 crore, apart from ₹14,000 crore in other state levies.
