Toyota Kirloskar commences third shift at Karnataka-based plant to enhance production, cut waiting period

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has brought in a third manufacturing shift at its plant in Karnataka, India to increase production capacity by 30%. The move is aimed at lowering waiting lists on vehicles such as the Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Innova Hycross. The Japanese carmaker has added 1,500 workers and invested INR900m ($12.2m) to upgrade existing services at the factory. The plant, which produces about 100,000 units annually, will have the facility to make over 30,000 more units per year with the additional shift.
