New SUVs take August car sales to record levels

Passenger vehicle sales in India reached a new monthly record in August, driven by SUV launches and increased production ahead of the festive season. Automakers dispatched 368,897 units in August, an increase of 12.8% compared to the previous year. This marks the eighth consecutive month with car dispatches exceeding 300,000 units, as buyers continue to purchase new models amid strong economic growth.
