India's road transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, is proposing a 10% additional GST on diesel engine vehicles to encourage the use of climate-friendly vehicles. He referred to it as a 'pollution tax' and urged the automobile industry to reduce production of diesel vehicles. Gadkari believes that the industry should focus on transitioning to electric and bio-fuel vehicles
