India proposes CAFE-III norms to tighten fuel efficiency standards for passenger vehicles

New fuel economy standards for passenger vehicles are proposed by the Ministry of Power. These Corporate Average Fuel Economy-III norms will apply from 2027-28 to 2031-32. Carmakers must meet fleet-wide fuel efficiency targets under the proposed rules. The aim is to improve fuel efficiency and lower vehicle emissions across India.
