Indian carmakers’ dealer sales rose 26.8% in December, the strongest monthly growth in 2025, driven by tax cuts that made vehicles cheaper and boosted demand. Dispatches touched nearly 399,000 units, while full-year sales grew about 5%. Festive demand and lower taxes lifted October–December volumes to a record, prompting brokerages to raise growth forecasts for fiscal 2026, even as automakers remain cautious due to signs of cooling demand and rising competition.
